👉It was quite inspiring to meet the legendary Anil Kumble during one event. I am always inspired by leaders 🧑💼and honest celebrities 👑 like him, which keeps me going. His perseverance and focus is one quality that inspires me a lot.
Everyone knows this fantabulous ✨cricketer, also known by his nickname Jumbo, holds the record of bowling 40,850 balls in the entire Test career, which is the highest for an Indian and second-highest overall, and he is also one of six bowlers to take 900+ (956 to be precise) wickets in his entire career. He holds several other records, awards, and honors far beyond one’s imagination.
▶️ He once said that no one should tell from your body language, whether you are at “50 for 5” or “200 for no loss”. And I think the same applies to leaders in whatever field you are.
▶️Similarly, among several rituals for preparation, which included training properly, eating right, and sleeping well, “visualization”, he said, was key. A day before the match, I would think of each batsman of the opposing team, one at a time, and visualize how I was going to get them out. I would picture the fielder’s positions, my bowling technique, the strategy I would use,”
The same applies to leaders to visualize the upcoming situation and define the strategy to make it 💫successful.
Who inspires you most??
I had the distinct privilege of conducting mock interviews for the final semester students of the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. 🧑🏫
Engaging in this endeavor proved to be a significant and gratifying experience, as I devoted my Saturday to actively participate in shaping the trajectory of prospective trailblazers while also giving back to our society. Each student was having an exceptionally commendable resume, a fact that did not go unnoticed. I would have dreamt of such resumes during my college days.
The opportunity to engage with the most exceptional young minds in disciplines such as chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, and MTech was nothing less than an enriching experience. During these interactions and feedback sessions, I had the privilege to share insights gained from an employer’s perspective, focusing on strategies for effective presentation during real-world interviews.
I hold a profound sense of gratitude for the chance to provide guidance to these ambitious IITians, aiding them in their meticulous career preparations.
It was a pleasure 😊 conducting another session at CRISIL Limited about “Introduction to PMP Certification”.
In my first session (Introduction to Project Management) at CRISIL, around 200+ CRISILtes joined. The session was well-received. However, due to the paucity of time, we could not cover details about how to start the journey toward PMP certification.
In this follow-up session, I covered about nuances of PMP certification, starting from PMI membership, required training, education, experiences, application, exam fees, etc. Only serious PMs joined the session and got good in-depth knowledge about PMP certification.
Already few managers have either undergone formal training or planning to take up PMP training to become PMP-certified project managers.
It’s my way of giving back to the society!!!!
📢It was an honor to conduct a session on ‘Introduction to Project Management’ in my company CRISIL Limited. The session was to introduce newbies and aspiring managers to the Project Management concept and roadmap to certifications.
I was overwhelmed by 200+ attendees 🧑💼🧑🤝🧑 from across the globe. The session was well-received, with a good rating. The session triggered awesome curiosity, and several colleagues got inspired to onboard the journey.
We are starting a Project Management community in CRISIL Limited and conduct more events in the future to help take up the career.
Looking forward to helping all those out there to take up Project Management as a valued profession and career choice.
Leadership and thought leadership are two distinct concepts that often get conflated. While both are important, they serve different purposes and have different strengths. Which one is more valuable in today’s business world, particularly when you are hiring.
Leadership refers to the ability to guide, inspire, and motivate a group of people towards a common goal. Leaders set the vision, direction, and strategy for their organization, as well as making decisions and taking actions that move them towards their goals. They also need to be good at communicating, delegating, and empowering their team members, so that everyone can work together effectively.
On the other hand, thought leadership is a strategy that focuses on establishing an individual or organization as an expert in a particular field. This is achieved by creating and sharing insightful, authentic, and valuable content that showcases their knowledge, expertise, and perspective on a topic. Thought leaders aim to influence and shape the way people think, feel, and act by offering unique insights, perspectives, and solutions to problems.
While leadership and thought leadership share some common traits, such as vision, communication, and influence, they are not interchangeable concepts. Leadership is about leading people towards a common goal, while thought leadership is about shaping ideas, perspectives, and beliefs. Leaders need to be effective communicators and motivators, while thought leaders need to be insightful, innovative, and influential.
So, which one is more valuable in today’s business world, particularly when you are hiring at a leadership position?
While leadership is critical for achieving organizational goals and driving performance, thought leadership is becoming increasingly important in a world where ideas and innovation are key drivers of success.
Here are some reasons:
- Thought leadership builds credibility and trust:
In today’s digital age, consumers are bombarded with information and options, making it harder for them to make informed decisions. Thought leaders who can offer valuable insights, ideas, and solutions to problems can help cut through the noise and establish trust with their audience. By consistently sharing their knowledge and expertise, thought leaders can build credibility and authority in their field, which can lead to more opportunities for collaboration, influence, and growth.
- Thought leadership creates differentiation:
In a crowded market, businesses need to find ways to stand out and differentiate themselves from their competitors. Thought leadership is an effective way to do this by showcasing a unique perspective, approach, or solution to a problem. By offering something that no one else is, businesses can establish a competitive advantage and attract customers who are looking for new and innovative ideas.
- Thought leadership drives innovation:
Innovation is key to staying competitive in today’s fast-paced business world. Thought leaders who are constantly pushing the boundaries of their field, challenging assumptions, and exploring new ideas can inspire others to do the same. By promoting a culture of innovation, thought leaders can help their organization stay ahead of the curve and adapt to changing market conditions.
In a nutshell, I feel that both leadership and thought leadership are essential in today’s business world while hiring. While leadership is critical for achieving organizational goals and driving performance, thought leadership is becoming increasingly important for establishing credibility, differentiation, and innovation. The most successful businesses and individuals are those who can balance both and leverage their unique strengths to achieve their goals.
🤩 It was awesome to learn that 510 professionals/learners 🧑🏼🤝🧑🧑🤝🧑🧑🏼🤝🧑 tuned in from across the globe for my session on “Introduction to Project Management” last Saturday morning.
Initially, I thought that 2 hours will become boring for participants. But almost the full audience was present throughout the duration and still there was no end to queries.
Not only that, we received excellent feedback from 171 participants, with 99% quoting it as an excellent session. And asked for more. The feedback snapshot is in the comments.
Can’t ask more!!!! Thanks, Ayush Malaviya, for the opportunity.

📢It was my pleasure to deliver a talk at Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI)‘s Profiesta event over the weekend, which is the Annual Technical Festival Organized By Project Management Students of VJTI.
My topic for the session was ‘Adaptability of PM in changing business environments’. M.Tech Students enthusiastically attended it, and was well-received. I am always amazed by the curiosity and energy of young minds.
VJTI, as Mumbaikars know, is the most reputed and prestigious engineering college in Mumbai after IITB. Thanks to Sanjay Bhuyan and the professors for the invitation.
After my session, a session by Jason Cabral and Christopher Eitel, P.E. from Burns & McDonnell India was also conducted.
With this session, I have delivered public talks at all the topmost colleges in Mumbai (IIT-B/SJMSOM, NITIE, and VJTI), apart from several prestigious engineering and B-colleges.
